In an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday, Gana noted that the northern electorate tends to support candidates based on fairness and credibility. He expressed confidence that Obi would outperform other contenders in the region if he aligned with the PDP.
Highlighting the strength of the PDP, Gana said the party has deep roots across Nigeria, especially at the grassroots level. He emphasized its significant role in restoring democracy after its formation in 1998 and its sweeping victory in the 1999 general elections, which saw the party take control of the presidency, Senate, and House of Representatives.
Addressing internal issues within the PDP, Gana downplayed recent disagreements, describing them as minor and limited to a few elite members based in Abuja. He stressed that the party remains united and committed to democratic values at its core.
Gana also touched on the matter of zoning within the PDP, suggesting that the presidential ticket could return to the North in 2031. He stated that the region has consistently shown a commitment to fairness and national unity, making it a strong contender in future party decisions.
According to him, ensuring equity and fairness in political arrangements remains essential for national development and party stability.
