The Kano State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes Project (Kano-ACReSAL) has refuted allegations of mismanagement and inefficiency following the circulation of a viral video questioning its operations.

In a statement released on Saturday, the project’s Communications Officer, Maryam Abdulqadir, described the video as misleading and aimed at misinforming the public about the ongoing activities of the project.

She explained that Kano-ACReSAL is operating under a tripartite agreement between the Federal Government of Nigeria, 19 Northern States, and the World Bank. According to her, all project activities are guided by the Project Implementation Manual (PIM) and the Project Appraisal Document (PAD).

Reacting to specific claims raised in the video, the management highlighted the construction of 10 solar-powered boreholes across nine local government areas, which have significantly improved access to clean water in the benefiting communities.

The project also disbursed cheques worth $250,000 to 10 communities through its Community Revolving Fund (CRF), aimed at strengthening agricultural resilience and improving livelihoods.

In addition, Kano-ACReSAL said it had enhanced the state’s waste management system by providing 10 refuse collection trucks and two pay loaders to the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), which are currently in use.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and professionalism, the management urged members of the public and media professionals to verify any information before sharing. It also encouraged citizens to visit its website or follow its official social media handles for credible updates.
