President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday visited the family of the late elder statesman and industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano to offer his condolences and honour the legacy of a man he described as a pillar of generosity, humility, and national service.

According to a statement from the State House, the President described the late Dantata as “a titan of integrity” whose life was marked by compassion, humility, and service to others.

“This visit is personal to me. Alhaji Aminu Dantata was not just a prominent figure in Nigeria’s business and philanthropic space; he was family to me,” Tinubu said.

He recalled how the late patriarch offered him prayers and blessings during the 2023 presidential campaign and had personally travelled to Abuja to show support.

“He was humble, honest, and always willing to serve. Even now, I believe if goodwill extends beyond this life, Dantata would still be giving to the poor and comforting the sick,” he added.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away on June 28, 2025, in Dubai at the age of 94 and was buried in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1. The President offered prayers for his soul and comfort for the bereaved family and the people of Kano.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State thanked President Tinubu for his continued support during the mourning period. He noted that the President had earlier sent a delegation led by the Minister of Defence to the burial in Saudi Arabia and also dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima and others to offer condolences before his personal visit.

“We are grateful for your leadership and compassion. You stood with the family and with the people of Kano,” the governor said.

Also speaking, the eldest son of the deceased, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, appreciated the President’s gesture and reaffirmed the family’s commitment to upholding the values their late father stood for.

“You have shown genuine closeness to our father both in life and after his passing. We are grateful,” he said.

Dignitaries who accompanied the President on the visit included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, ministers, security chiefs, and business mogul Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

Elder statesmen such as Alhaji Tanko Yakasai and Alhaji Mohammed Indimi also attended the condolence gathering.
