The National Assembly has suspended all legislative proceedings to mourn the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, who said the leadership of both the Senate and House of Representatives were deeply affected by the loss.
All activities within the National Assembly are to remain on hold until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as a mark of respect to the late leader.
Lawmakers have also been directed to adjust their schedules to enable full participation in the funeral arrangements.
The National Assembly extended condolences to the Federal Government, the people of Nigeria, the Katsina State Government, and the family of the late president. Buhari was described as a patriotic leader who remained committed to the unity and development of the country throughout his lifetime.
