Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in London, where the former leader is currently undergoing medical treatment.

Shettima flew to London penultimate Sunday night and met with Buhari the following morning. The visit was made on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who asked the Vice President to check on Buhari’s wellbeing after his official engagement in Ethiopia, Nation Newspaper reports.
Shettima, who had earlier participated in the inauguration of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative, spent several hours with the former president, delivering Tinubu’s best wishes and offering prayers for his speedy recovery.
The Vice President also extended his visit to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who is similarly recovering in London following a medical procedure.
While the purpose of the visit was to ascertain Buhari’s health condition and offer support, officials have described the trip as a private engagement. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, stated that no further details would be made public.
Meanwhile, Buhari’s former aide, Bashir Ahmad, assured the public that the former president remains stable and is responding well to treatment. He dismissed reports suggesting Buhari was in a critical condition, saying, “He is stable and responding well to treatment, and we are optimistic about his full recovery.”
