The move has been widely commended as a strategic effort to bridge the gap between traditional institutions and modern education, highlighting the importance of cultural leadership in national development.

Born on June 22, 1956, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the new Chancellor is a respected legal figure who began his career after graduating from Ahmadu Bello University. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981 and rose through the ranks to become a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2017. In 2019, he ascended the throne as the 17th Emir of Lafia.

Governor Yusuf noted that the appointment would bring wisdom, dignity, and integrity to the university’s leadership, while also serving as a source of inspiration to both staff and students.
