According to TheCable, citing Empowered Newswire, Buhari had travelled to the United Kingdom for a medical check-up when his condition worsened, requiring critical care. Sources close to the former president confirmed that he was admitted to the ICU but was later moved out after his condition stabilized.
Though the nature of the illness remains undisclosed, it was gathered that medical experts are still monitoring his health, and his return to Nigeria will depend on his full recovery.
Meanwhile, Buhari’s uncle, Mamman Daura, is also reportedly receiving medical attention in London. Sources say Daura’s condition is improving.
Buhari was notably absent at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held in Lagos on May 28. In a letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Buhari explained that his absence was due to his medical visit to the UK.
