Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, reportedly stepped down due to health-related concerns, according to Premium Times. His resignation brings an end to a tenure that began in August 2023, following the departure of Abdullahi Adamu.

Although health was cited as the primary reason, party insiders believe the move may also be strategic, allowing the APC to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

There have also been growing calls from stakeholders in the North Central zone for the chairmanship position to return to their region, a factor some believe may have influenced Ganduje’s decision to quit.
