The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has accused a group of individuals and internal actors of launching a coordinated campaign aimed at discrediting its leadership and halting its ongoing transformation.

In a statement issued on Friday June 27 2025, the company described the campaign as a deliberate attempt to spread lies and misinformation with the goal of misleading the public and distracting its management from driving meaningful reforms.

NNPC Ltd said the campaign is being carried out by both known and anonymous individuals who feel threatened by the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

“These are calculated efforts by those who feel threatened by reform transparency accountability and change” the statement read. “It is a clear sign of how far they are willing to go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s leading energy company.”

The company alleged that the group behind the campaign is circulating fabricated and scandalous stories in a bid to derail its progress and discourage staff who are committed to change.

Despite the challenges NNPC Ltd reaffirmed its determination to remain focused on its mandate of transforming into a corruption free and performance driven institution in line with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We expect more defamatory content in the coming days but we remain undeterred” the company said. “We urge our staff stakeholders and all patriotic Nigerians to stay focused and ignore the noise. The transformation is ongoing and nothing will stop it.”

NNPC Ltd assured the public that it will continue to uphold integrity and work towards building a stronger and more transparent energy sector.
