The court, sitting in the Nomansland area and presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, ordered that Tsulange be held at a correctional facility until July 3, 2025, as investigations into the matter continue.
Tsulange was arraigned by the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board, which described the viral skit as indecent and contrary to the moral and religious values upheld in the state. In the video, the TikToker was seen simulating a bath in the middle of the road while dressed in female lingerie, a scene that quickly drew criticism online and offline.
According to a statement from the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the act was considered offensive and potentially harmful to young audiences who frequently consume social media content. He emphasized that such behavior violates cultural norms and Islamic teachings deeply respected in Kano.
The board’s Executive Secretary, Abba El-Mustapha, also expressed concern over what he called a growing trend of indecent and disruptive content being shared under the pretense of comedy. He said the board would continue to take legal action against individuals who promote what it described as “immoral content disguised as entertainment.”
It was also revealed that several of Tsulange’s past skits were filmed on busy streets, sometimes causing unnecessary traffic disruptions. The Kano State Police Command had previously warned content creators to avoid blocking roads or engaging in behavior that could threaten public order while filming.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to monitoring digital content and maintaining public decency, warning that anyone found promoting content that undermines societal values will face appropriate legal action.
In another similar case, a Magistrate Court in Kano sentenced TikToker Abubakar Usman Kilina to one year in prison or a N100,000 fine after finding him guilty of indecent conduct.
Kilina, also known for controversial videos, was additionally ordered to pay N30,000 as compensation to the censorship board for wasting its time. The court warned that a repeat offense would attract a full jail term without the option of a fine.
