The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has vowed to rid the state of thuggery, declaring that there will be no safe haven for criminals operating under the guise of Daba.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Hussaini, on behalf of the Commissioner. The statement followed a strategic security meeting held on June 14, 2025, with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders, where new strategies were rolled out to combat rising thuggery activities across Kano metropolis.
CP Bakori gave a clear directive to all formations under the command to launch intelligence-led offensives against identified criminal hideouts. He warned that the police would no longer tolerate any form of street violence or gang activity, stressing the need to nip such threats in the bud.
He further assured the public that Kano State would continue to enjoy sustained peace and security, adding that residents should feel safe enough to “sleep with their two eyes closed.”
To achieve this, the police will implement community-driven policing strategies, including engaging local leaders and residents for feedback on improving safety. The Command also pledged to continue working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a united front against all forms of criminality.
The Command called on the public to support ongoing efforts by reporting suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
