The list, which generated heated debates particularly among supporters of the current administration, has been described as false and lacking any official backing.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, the government has not released any new list of national award recipients beyond those announced during the 2025 Democracy Day celebration.
On June 13, President Tinubu honoured 66 individuals who contributed significantly to Nigeria’s democratic journey. The awardees included both living and posthumous recipients such as Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, Kudirat Abiola, and Professor Humphrey Nwosu.
Reacting to the claim on social media, Aisha Yesufu strongly rejected the idea of receiving such an award. She posted, “God forbid!!!!! It can never be this Aisha Yesufu. Thank you.”
The Presidency has urged the public to ignore the circulating list and rely only on officially released information.
