Over 1,200 political returnees from the camp of Hon. Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila have rejoined the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), marking a significant boost for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They were formally received by the national leader of the NNPP and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at a political gathering held on Sunday at his residence along Miller Road in Kano.

The event attracted a large number of party supporters, traditional leaders, and key political figures. It was marked by celebration and renewed calls for intensified grassroots mobilization across the state.

Senator Kwankwaso described the return of the Waraka group as a milestone in his effort to promote issue-based and people-oriented politics in Kano. He emphasized the party’s commitment to integrity, development, and building a movement that prioritizes the needs of the people rather than engaging in transactional politics.

He also encouraged the returnees to actively contribute to strengthening the party’s structure and to remain focused on advancing its ideals as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape.

Representatives of the returnees, including Jamilu Zamba and Maryam Romo, expressed satisfaction with their decision to rejoin the NNPP. They cited Senator Kwankwaso’s leadership style, his consistent vision, and the inclusive nature of the party particularly in empowering women as reasons behind their move.
