The National Tijjaniyya Youth Enlightenment Initiative has expressed deep sorrow over the death of 22 athletes from Kano State who lost their lives in a tragic accident while returning from the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

In a condolence message jointly signed by the group’s National Secretary, Shehu Tasiu Ishaq, and its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Balarabe Kofar Naisa, the association described the incident as a national tragedy that extends beyond the grief of the victims’ families and the sporting community.

The accident reportedly occurred in Dakatsalle town, Kano State.

The group extended its heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Government, the Emir of Kano, and the bereaved families. It also sympathised with the Kano State Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the national sports authorities over the loss.

The statement concluded with prayers for the souls of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to grant them mercy and eternal rest.
