A Nigerian pilgrim from Edo State, Hajiya Adizatu Dazumi, has passed away while performing the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, sparking grief among fellow pilgrims and relatives at home.

Her death was confirmed by the Independent Hajj Reporters of Nigeria, and further details were provided by the Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musah Uduimoh on Tuesday.
According to Uduimoh, Hajiya Dazumi, aged 75, fell ill shortly after performing the Tawaaf (the circumambulation of the Kaaba) and was taken to King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah on Sunday. She died the following day, Monday, after a brief illness.
She was buried in Makkah later that same day in line with Islamic tradition, and her family in Jattu Uzairue has been duly informed.
The chairman extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured other pilgrims that the board remains committed to their health and safety throughout the pilgrimage.
