Kano State will play host to some of Nigeria’s most influential figures in business, governance, and development on June 5, 2025, as the annual For The Love of The Country (FLOC) conference returns with a renewed focus on reimagining the nation’s economic path.

Themed “Reimagining Nigeria’s Economy for a Prosperous Future: Where We Should Be in the Next Decade,” the high-level gathering aims to spark bold conversations around Nigeria’s economic transformation over the next 10 years.
Organisers say Kano was deliberately chosen as the venue due to its long-standing status as a commercial powerhouse and a symbol of enterprise, making it a fitting backdrop for critical discussions on regional empowerment and inclusive growth.
Notable personalities expected at the event include Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, whose presence reflects a strong link between political governance and traditional leadership.
Also slated to speak is Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, who will lead discussions on industrial growth and economic diversification. She will be joined by renowned political economist Professor Pat Utomi and Minister of State for Finance, Hon. Dr. Doris Anite Uzoka, who will offer insights into Nigeria’s financial strategy.
Other key speakers include Oladele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals; Kingsley Moghalu, former CBN Deputy Governor; Charles O. Odii, DG of SMEDAN; and Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of the NGX Group. Together, they will address critical areas like macroeconomic stability, SME growth, mineral development, and capital market expansion.
The conference agenda will spotlight strategies for reducing Nigeria’s reliance on oil, improving infrastructure, and strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, ICT, manufacturing, and finance. It will also explore policy solutions for curbing inflation, creating youth employment, and investing in human capital through education and innovation.
According to the convener, Atinuke Odjenima, FLOC 2025 aims not just to shape policy, but also to facilitate public-private partnerships and inspire real change. “This year, we are placing a strong emphasis on the role of youth and women in shaping Nigeria’s economic future,” she said.
