The incident, which occurred around 7:45 p.m. on May 23 at Faruruwa Market, broke out during a busy market day and escalated into violence, resulting in the burning of several makeshift stalls.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed the incident on Sunday via his official X handle, stating that preliminary findings indicated the conflict began after a 28-year-old man, Sani Yunusa, from Toho Diribo village, visited his girlfriend in Tarandai.

While returning home, Yunusa was reportedly attacked with sticks and cutlasses by a group of youths suspected to be from the rival village.

Security operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene to restore order and prevent further violence.

Police have begun investigations to determine the root cause of the clash and are working to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

This incident follows a similar case on May 9, 2025, when the Kano police arrested 25-year-old Mansur Umar for allegedly killing his sister’s boyfriend, Sulaiman Musa, during a fight in Kunya village. The victim later died in the hospital after being hit with a stick. The case is currently being handled by the CID’s Homicide Section.
