President Bola Tinubu has approved the issuance of essential licences for the Kolmani Integrated Development Project, a multibillion-dollar oil exploration venture spanning Bauchi and Gombe states.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, made the announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy construction. He said the approvals are part of efforts to ramp up Nigeria’s oil production by activating all viable hydrocarbon assets nationwide.
Lokpobiri reiterated the federal government’s dedication to harnessing the country’s energy potential to drive industrial development, generate employment, and increase national revenue. He commended the Bauchi State Government for setting up the oil and gas academy, describing it as a clear step toward building local expertise in the sector.
He also acknowledged the role of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in manpower training, stressing the importance of empowering Nigerians to manage and benefit from the country’s fossil fuel resources.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support and pledged continued backing for the academy’s success. He noted that the Kolmani project, initially inaugurated in November 2022, signifies a major milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward expanding oil exploration to the northern region.
