The tragic incident, which occurred on the Lambata-Bida axis, involved an articulated truck transporting Federal Government grains from Lagos to Kano, with 36 male passengers onboard.

Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba-Arah, confirmed the incident in a statement issued Sunday in Minna. He attributed the cause of the accident to a bad portion of the road.

Emergency responders from NSEMA, alongside commuters and local villagers, conducted search and rescue efforts at the crash site. The injured victims were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment, with some sustaining serious injuries while others were treated for minor wounds.

Baba-Arah added that many of the deceased were claimed by their relatives for burial.
