Governor Bala Mohammed announced the donation during a condolence visit to the affected communities. He described the attack as a tragic loss and said the government is taking steps to support the victims’ families and strengthen local security.

As part of the relief package, each family of the slain vigilantes will receive N5 million, while families of civilian victims will get N3 million. An additional N10 million has been allocated as operational support for vigilante groups, and another N10 million for logistics.

To bolster security, the governor also announced plans to recruit 2,100 new vigilante members across the state. Between 300 and 500 will be immediately recruited from the affected areas. The new recruits will undergo training under the supervision of security agencies and operate under a defined code of conduct.

Traditional leaders have been tasked with identifying individuals who may be aiding bandits, as part of efforts to track informants and restore peace in the area.
