The former Edo State governor was reacting to remarks made on Arise TV’s The Morning Show while speaking during Channels Television’s Politics Today. He described Abati’s comments as disrespectful and mischievous, particularly the suggestion that former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, may have sought his approval before allegedly joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oshiomhole accused the anchor of harboring personal grudges and criticized him for failing to acknowledge his contributions to Nigeria’s labor movement during his time as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). He also referenced Abati’s previous encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which followed his role as spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The senator further recalled Abati’s involvement in the 2019 Ogun State governorship election, where he contested as deputy to the late Buruji Kashamu. He said such history discredits Abati’s moral standing to comment on political developments and challenged him to stop hiding behind television platforms and confront him in person.
