Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the payment of over N3 billion to cover registration fees for 141,175 secondary school students sitting for the 2025 NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS examinations.

The announcement came from the Kano State Ministry of Education, which revealed that the funds are being used to support students who successfully passed the recently concluded qualifying examinations. The beneficiaries are drawn from institutions under the Kano State Teachers Service Board and the Science and Technical Schools Board.
Out of the total candidates who took part in the qualifying exams, 75 percent achieved the required minimum of five credits and above, making them eligible for the state-sponsored registration.
All secondary school principals and directors have been instructed to notify students of their results to facilitate the commencement of payment by the government.
The administration noted that the 2025 registration support is targeted at enabling students to access the necessary credentials for admission into tertiary institutions.
Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Yusuf’s administration has consistently funded the registration fees of indigent students sitting for national exams including NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS.
In addition to covering current exam fees, the government has also cleared substantial debts owed to examination bodies by the previous administration led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
