This directive was contained in an official letter dated March 25, 2025, signed by Abubakar S. Dabo, Director of Local Government Inspection, Daily Post reports.

The letter stated that the funds would be deducted directly from the State/Local Government Joint Account and disbursed to Sottom Synergy Resources Ltd, the private firm contracted to execute the project.

According to the document, the expenditure covers the full refurbishment of a 1969 Rolls Royce and a Cadillac limousine, along with the procurement of four brand-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR vehicles for the Emirate Council.

Local government chairmen were instructed to strictly follow due process in the release and management of the funds.

The development has triggered mixed reactions from the public. Critics have raised concerns over the financial implications, especially at a time when many local governments are grappling with budget constraints and deteriorating infrastructure.

On the other hand, supporters argue that the move is part of efforts to restore the historical prestige and operational capacity of the Kano Emirate, following the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi II.
