President Bola Tinubu has directed a comprehensive restructuring of Nigeria’s national security strategy in response to escalating violence in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states.
The decision followed a closed-door meeting with security chiefs at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.

The President expressed strong dissatisfaction with the persistent killings and destruction of properties in the affected states, urging immediate and effective action from security agencies. He emphasized the need to restore law and order and called for swift collaboration between federal, state, and local authorities.
National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, disclosed that the service chiefs had presented updates on the recent attacks, including death tolls and damage to infrastructure. In response, the President issued new directives aimed at reinforcing security presence and intensifying intelligence operations in vulnerable areas.
As part of the new strategy, security forces are expected to partner closely with governors, local governments, and community leaders to ensure a more coordinated response to threats.
The new approach will also focus on curbing the use of improvised explosive devices and limiting the activities of criminal groups operating from ungoverned territories.
The Federal Government assured that the revised security framework would prioritise the protection of lives and property, with a renewed commitment to restoring peace and stability across the country.
