Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commenced the distribution of 10,000 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to secondary school students across the state.

The initiative was launched during a ceremony where the Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda. As part of the programme, the beneficiaries will also undergo training on the use of computer-based tests (CBT) at various designated centres in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Education, Alhaji Tajuddin Gambo, announced that the state government will provide free transportation to all beneficiaries during the training period. He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and assured them that those who excel in the examination would be supported in gaining admission into top institutions.
One of the beneficiaries, Fatima Mukhtar Umar, expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for the gesture and promised to work hard to justify the opportunity.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, the distribution was described as part of a broader effort by the Yusuf-led administration to reform and invest in education over the past 22 months.
According to the statement, other milestones include the reintroduction of local and foreign scholarships, reopening of 21 skills acquisition centres, renovation of primary and secondary schools, construction of classrooms, provision of furniture and learning materials, and free school uniforms for primary pupils.
The statement also highlighted the reduction of registration fees by 50% in state-owned tertiary institutions, cash transfers to promote girl-child education, and payment of examination fees for NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS.
Governor Yusuf urged the students to make the most of the opportunity, reminding them that their future depends on their commitment and determination to succeed.
