The Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos, Mr. Kumar Sanda, has disclosed that hundreds of individuals suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect have been apprehended in the state.

Sanda made this revelation during an award ceremony held in Lagos, where the CJTF was honoured by the Nigerian Human Rights Community as the Best Security Group in the state.

He explained that the CJTF has intensified surveillance across strategic areas such as trailer parks, markets, and quarries, which often attract migrants from the northern part of the country. He noted that thousands of suspected Boko Haram insurgents have been arrested through these efforts.

“Our main focus is to prevent insurgents and bandits fleeing from the North from infiltrating Lagos. We are constantly monitoring truck routes and closely watching new arrivals from Borno and other Northern states,” Sanda said.

He emphasized the importance of vigilance, clarifying that while not all northerners are insurgents, it is essential to monitor potential threats closely. He further stated that some of the individuals involved in terrorism may not even be Nigerians but foreigners who cross into the country and disguise as citizens.
