Daily News 24 reports that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Muhammad Isah Umaru, alongside district heads and traditional titleholders, who paid him a Sallah visit at the Government House.

According to the statement, the state is actively working on expanding the Tiga Dam water supply system to cover Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure local government areas. It further noted that experts have been engaged to assess the feasibility of drilling boreholes in strategic locations, considering the rocky terrain of the region.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving rural infrastructure, including access to fertilizers and youth empowerment programs. He also acknowledged the support of Rano Emirate residents and urged them to continue cooperating with the government for the state’s overall development.

In his remarks, Emir Muhammad Isah Umaru expressed gratitude to the Kano State House of Assembly for amending the 2024 Emirates Repeal Law, which facilitated his appointment. He commended the government’s strides in education, healthcare, agriculture, and pension settlements.

The Emir also appreciated the re-awarding of the Rano five-kilometer road project to a competent contractor and once again emphasized the need for a lasting solution to the water crisis in the emirate.
