A lightning strike on Sunday claimed the lives of a young herder and 12 cows in the Matuak Giwa community of Kaduna State.

According to Village Head Simon Ayuba, the herder had sought shelter from the rain when the thunderstrike struck, resulting in the immediate deaths of both the herder and the cattle.

The tragedy has deeply shaken the community, with Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, confirming the herder’s death and extending his condolences.

The herder, from Bauchi State, was buried according to Islamic customs, leaving behind a grieving family.
