Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has revealed his intention to contest for a Senate seat in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at his Kaduna residence during his Eid-el-Fitr message on Sunday, Sani stated that his candidacy would depend on the political climate at the time.

The ex-lawmaker, who served in the Senate from 2015 to 2019, parted ways with the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a dispute with former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Despite his ambition to return to the Senate, Sani stressed that his immediate focus is on ensuring the re-election of Governor Uba Sani for a second term, vowing to put in significant effort to achieve this goal despite possible hurdles.
During his address, Sani called on Muslims to pray for peace and stability in Nigeria as they marked Eid-el-Fitr. He also condemned the killing of hunters in Edo State, urging security agencies to track down those responsible and uphold justice. He emphasized that protecting citizens’ fundamental rights, especially the right to life, is crucial for national development.
The former senator further encouraged Nigerians to embrace unity and work collectively towards preserving democracy amid prevailing challenges. He underscored the importance of collaboration in tackling the country’s difficulties and fostering national progress.
