Daily News 24 reports that the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspect, identified as Usman Sagiru, 20, of Sharifai Quarters, was apprehended in connection with the incident that took place around 12:40 p.m.

“While dispersing from the Eid praying ground, Usman Sagiru and others now at large allegedly stabbed Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante member from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters, who later died from his injuries,” Kiyawa stated.

He added that another vigilante member, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata Quarters, sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital. The victims were reportedly providing security for Emir Sanusi at the time of the attack.

The police command has launched an investigation into the incident and has invited Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, for questioning.

Kiyawa reiterated the police ban on all Durbar activities and warned against any form of thuggery. “Whoever engages in any act that may breach the peace will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain security in the state.
