According to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, the incident occurred on Friday in the Banex area of Wuse 2. A distress call alerted authorities to an attack on security personnel by individuals armed with firearms, cutlasses, catapults, sticks, stones, and petrol bombs.

During the altercation, intense gunfire erupted, leaving three security operatives injured. They were rushed to the National Hospital, where one was later confirmed dead.

Authorities have apprehended 19 suspects linked to the attack, while others managed to escape. The police assured that investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining culprits and ensure they face justice. The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Saka Adewale, reaffirmed that measures are being put in place to prevent such incidents and maintain order in the capital.

CP Adewale emphasized that any assault on security personnel who risk their lives to safeguard the public will not be tolerated. He called on residents to remain calm and support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities through the command’s dedicated hotlines.
