Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, has announced the cancellation of his planned Eid Durbar celebration, citing concerns about security and public peace.

In a video address, Bayero revealed that after consulting with elders, religious leaders, and members of his Emirate Council, he decided to call off the celebration to avoid any disruption to public order.

He had earlier informed the Kano State Commissioner of Police about his intention to hold a separate Durbar after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf granted approval for the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to proceed with preparations for the event.

He emphasized that while the Eid Durbar is a significant tradition, it should not come at the expense of peace.

“Sallah Durbar is not a do-or-die affair for us. If it risks becoming a source of chaos, loss of lives, or destruction of property, then it is best to shelve it,” he said.

He urged Kano residents to accept the decision in good faith and encouraged the Muslim community to use the festive period to foster unity and strengthen social ties.

The Emir also extended his greetings to Muslims on the completion of Ramadan, offering prayers for divine blessings.
